About me
Gina Ponce is currently a Spanish teacher at Alamosa High School. During her 30 years of education she has taught gifted and talented students for 20 years, Spanish level 1-AP for 20 years, department chair for multilingual students at AHS and Sierra Grande (k-12). She also teaches reading, ELA strategies, Spanish, and SAT Prep for Trio:Upward bound at Adams State University. For ASU, she has been an adjunct professor for 2 years teaching Foundations of American Education, Was a liaison for placement of ASU student teachers for 2 years, represented ASU/Alamosa High School in a STEM exchange program with Siegan University in Germany. Currently she is also evaluating ASU student teachers. At the national level, she has presented Sierra Grande in Houston at the IB Middle Years and AP conference for the College Board, and in Denver at the National Applied Anthropology Conference with a panel of Linguistically Diverse Education peers.
Gina lives with her elderly mother, enjoys traveling, reading books, spending time with family & friends, and walks in the beautiful San Luis Valley. Gina is passionate about education and all the students who step into her classroom!
